Black Pearls
Please review my poem in the comments.
Black Pearls
Ghastly, bewitching, idyllic of them all,
Lastly, I was twitching, now I recall.
Your visage is alluring,
But your deadly, deadly eyes,
They're so appealing,
I'm hypnotized.
When I look at those black pearls,
Your whole life unfurls,
It's horrifying, terrifying,
But at the same time,
They're magically sublime.
I can't help but stare
And look at this beauty, so cold, so rare
Staring back at me.
They're frozen, they're dead,
No more tears will they shed
No more will they glare,
No more they will see
Nobody will care,
Nobody, but me.
I'm still, very still,
You're dead, you were killed.
Somebody liberated you from your painful survival,
And I'm grateful, so grateful for your revival.
When I look at those black pearls of yours again,
I wanna look at 'em still while I can.
This beautiful fantasy has come to an end,
You have been freed,
I have woken up from that deep sleep.
They are taking you away now,
Your pale face, your blue lips, and your motionless heart
are all lifted as one,
Inside, I'm torn apart.
Then your black eyes are gently closed
as I have one last look.
You look like a living ghost,
And I'm completely shook.
You're gone, with your lovely eyes
And you'll never be back
I'll never see those black pearls,
From my pearls, tears I'll shed,
And I'll try, to look into mine instead.

About the poem: This is about contemplating the captivating black eyes of a beloved, who has suffered lifelong misery. This person has been killed, hence been ‘liberated’ from pain. The author is horrified as those eyes are expressionless and cold. She is deeply moved with this person’s death but cannot respond to it.

You have used words so so beautifully and penned it so well 😊💓👍🏻
